Setting Karst cliff-side sculpture park
At the heart of Yuzi Paradise – a thousand acres of manicured land – are the madly slanting grass-topped roofs of Homa Chateau. This eye-grabbing modern boutique hotel is both a shrine to art and a hymn to luxury, surrounded by a landscape jagged with limestone peaks and riddled with clear-water lakes.

Food and drink at Homa Chateau
- Hotel restaurant One of the great things about Homa is the opportunity to dine alfresco in an assortment of beautifully backdropped areas. Choose between the willow-lined outdoor platforms, the tranquil lakeside, or amid the artworks outdoors. Outdoor Woods Café and the indoor Lotus Restaurant both serve flavour-packed Chinese fusion dishes, as well as a few Western classic dishes for more stay-at-home palates.
- Dress code Artful chic – think East meets Westwood (Vivienne, not Tim).
- Top table Homa’s limestone caverns offer a truly remarkable underground dining experience – eat at a stone table beneath a cascading chandelier.
- Last orders You can dine at any time between noon and 9pm; the bar serves until midnight.
- Room service A menu of light Chinese bits and sandwiches is available until midnight.
- Hotel bar The moody and atmospheric Moon Lounge sits beside the forest and is reached by a creeper-shrouded walkway. The room is decorated in misty hues of silver and grey. Faux crocodile-leather chairs are paired with silver mirrored tables at one end, and at the other purple, bucket chairs are surrounded by a waterfall of clear, beaded curtain.

Our favourite rooms
The undulating walls of the cave-like Homa Deluxe Room are both wonderfully whimsical and strangely calming. The ice-white walls contrast brilliantly with bright turquoise furnishings, which include fleur de lis-upholstered cushioned chairs and headboards. The Libre Family Suite has an open-duplex design and a loft bed for young Smiths, with a sliding wooden partition to combine privacy with peace of mind. Honeymooners and lovebirds should check into the spacious Executive Suite, which is split into two luxurious levels with mountain views on two sides, and features gorgeous artworks, a large corner Jacuzzi for romantic soaks, and a traditional Chinese day-bed.
